Magens Bay Park is a public beach park on the north coast of St. Thomas, managed by the Magens Bay Authority. The park dates to 1946, when Arthur S. Fairchild donated 56 acres to the municipalities of St. Thomas and St. John for public recreation. Today the Authority oversees Magens Bay Park, Smith Bay Park and the 319-acre Magens Bay Watershed, which was added through a 2002 partnership with The Nature Conservancy and the Virgin Islands government. The park has a hiking trail, a three-acre arboretum, camping, shed rentals for events, beach chair rentals and a beachfront restaurant and bar. Entrance and parking fees apply, with a lower daily rate for residents who show a local ID and monthly passes for residents. New residents who plan to visit often can compare the daily resident rate with the monthly passes.
