Coral Reef Academy is a nonprofit, non-public special education school for students with autism, ADHD and other developmental disabilities, founded in 2018 in Christiansted, St. Croix. The academy says it is the only school in the territory dedicated to students with autism and developmental disabilities. Teaching combines the TEACCH structured teaching method with Applied Behavior Analysis, in small groups with high staff-to-student ratios. Speech, occupational and physical therapy come through community providers, and the school says these services can be funded by private insurance or by the Virgin Islands Department of Education through a student's IEP. The VIDE list of non-public schools gives its grades as Kindergarten through 12th grade, and the academy added a college preparatory classroom in 2024. Its website does not describe an application process, so families should contact the school about admission, available space and how IEP funding works for their child.
