Around St. Thomas
Coral Reef Academy opened its St. Thomas campus at Yacht Haven Grande in 2024, as a second location of the nonprofit special education school founded on St. Croix in 2018. The academy says this campus serves students with autism in grades K to 4. Its program uses the TEACCH structured teaching method and Applied Behavior Analysis, with individual schedules, visual routines and small groups. Speech, occupational and physical therapy are provided through community partners, and the school says these can be funded by private insurance or by the Virgin Islands Department of Education through a student's IEP. Families moving to St. Thomas should contact the school early to ask about space and the steps to enroll. The website does not describe an application process, so call or email the academy, which lists one phone number and email for both campuses.
