Friends of Virgin Islands National Park

Friends of Virgin Islands National Park is a nonprofit on St. John that runs guided programs in and around the park, mostly from October or November through May or June. Programs on its website include a Friday morning bird walk led by a retired park ranger, cultural demonstrations of bread making, local food and plants at Annaberg on Mondays to Wednesdays from November to June, evening talks at Cinnamon Bay on topics from sea turtles to Caribbean music, a sea turtle information table at Maho Bay on Tuesday mornings, and trail volunteer days on Tuesdays and Thursdays. A guided Reef Bay hike and a monthly turtle boat and snorkel trip are offered with details posted each season. Unless noted, seminars are free with a suggested donation. The group's retail shop is at the national park Visitor Center. For newcomers, the volunteer days are one way to meet residents.
