Captain Cook Charters is a father-and-son fishing charter on St. Croix: Captain Dave Claeys, certified by the U.S. Coast Guard, runs it with his son Cai as first mate. Its 33-foot Pursuit sportfisher, Hook 'n Cook, takes one to six passengers from Green Cay Marina and has shade and a toilet. Charters last four, six, eight or 10 hours. The four-hour trip suits children and beginners, trolling for mahi, wahoo and tuna or fishing inshore for tarpon, snapper and grouper; longer trips head offshore, and the eight-hour trip leaves time to look for marlin. Rods, reels, bait, ice, water and sodas are included, and the crew cleans the catch for guests to keep. A smaller inflatable, Lil' Hook, takes up to four people snorkeling, turtle spotting and paddleboarding off the West End, by the hour.
