Frederiksted Pier

The Frederiksted Pier, officially the Ann E. Abramson Marine Facility, is St. Croix's only cruise ship port, owned and run by the Virgin Islands Port Authority (VIPA) on the Frederiksted waterfront. The 1,526-foot pier takes Voyager-class ships at its south berth, 36 feet deep, and smaller ships at its north berth, 29 feet deep. The original early-1900s pier, damaged by Hurricanes Hugo (1989) and Marilyn (1995), was largely reused to build the present one, renovated with the waterfront park in the early 2000s. The pier has a visitors center, and public restrooms are near its entrance. When no ship is in, divers and snorkelers use the pier, and sails, watersports and dive trips leave from it. When a ship is docked, only its passengers and crew may go onto the pier, and swimming, snorkeling and diving around it are banned, so check VIPA's cruise schedule before you dive.
