The Lawaetz Museum (also called the Lawaetz Family Museum) is the estate house of Little La Grange, near Frederiksted. Its owners grew sugar cane from 1776; Danish farmer Carl Lawaetz bought the estate in 1896 and raised cattle there, and his family kept it for a century. Little La Grange Farm, an organic farm managed by Ridge to Reef Farm, has run the museum since 2015. Guided tours of the furnished house take about 45 minutes and cost $20; the last starts at 2 p.m. From November 15 to August 15, walk-in tours run Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the rest of the year, tours are by appointment only, requested on the farm's website. Walking the grounds is free. From Frederiksted, drive north about half a mile, turn right on Mahogany Road and go 1.2 miles east to the farm sign; park beside the great house.
