Point Udall is the eastern tip of St. Croix, reached by East End Road (Route 82), and the Department of Tourism calls it the easternmost point of the United States. It is named for Stewart Udall, Secretary of the Interior from 1961 to 1969. On the point stands the Millennium Monument, a large sundial built for the New Year's celebration of 2000; it marks the direction of the first sunrise of the new millennium to reach American soil. Sunrise is the busiest time, especially on New Year's morning, and people also come at night to watch the stars. There is no admission charge, there is parking at the point, and GoToStCroix lists it as pet friendly. The drive out runs past the East End's reef-lined bays, and the trailhead for the Jack and Isaac Bay hike is on the roadside about 0.2 miles before the point.
