Estate Little Princess is a 25-acre nature preserve near Christiansted that The Nature Conservancy (TNC) has protected for more than 30 years and lists as open to the public. It began more than 250 years ago as a Danish sugar and rum plantation. Enslaved Africans built and worked it until slavery ended on St. Croix after the revolt of July 3, 1848, and its Great House and Hospital Building, made of coral stone and limestone, are examples of Afro-Danish architecture. Walking trails wind through the ruins, native plantings and wildflowers, and a path leads down to a beach. The 2017 hurricanes badly damaged the buildings, and TNC says it is restoring them. The preserve houses TNC's Coral Innovation Hub, which grows coral for planting around St. Croix, and TNC holds community events at the Great House. There is parking on site. Neither TNC nor GoToStCroix publishes hours or fees.
