Virgin Islands National Park covers 7,259 acres of St. John, about 60 percent of the island's land, plus 5,650 acres of submerged lands offshore. The park is open around the clock all year, and its visitor center in Cruz Bay keeps weekday hours. There is no entrance fee, but Trunk Bay charges a per-person amenity fee for visitors 16 and older, with a lower rate for senior and access pass holders, and as of October 1, 2026 Trunk Bay accepts only card or mobile payment. The park also charges nightly fees for overnight moorings. For buyers and renters, the park is a large part of life on St. John, since it covers most of the island's land. Check the park's alerts and current fees before planning beach days or boat trips.
