The Buccaneer resort, just east of Christiansted, has three beaches; GoToStCroix says all are open to the public, including non-guests. Staff at the guard gate direct visitors to parking. Mermaid Beach, the main one, has palm shade, The Mermaid restaurant and bar, and snorkeling around its short dock and along both sides of the bay, with conch, starfish and sometimes spotted eagle rays. Grotto Beach, just west, has Beauregard's on the Beach and good snorkeling close in, though parts are rocky. Both have restrooms. Whistle Beach, over the hill to the east, is secluded, with no facilities. Chairs, water-sports gear and the Grotto pool are for hotel guests, but non-guests may rent a chair when one is free. Dogs are not allowed on the beaches; leave shells in place. Weekly tests by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources met the standard on October 30, 2026; check the latest advisory.
