Pelican Cove Beach

Pelican Cove Beach, also called Cormorant Beach, is a long, palm-lined beach on St. Croix's North Shore, a short drive west of Christiansted. From town, take Northside Road (Route 75) west, keep left on it at the Five Corners light, and after about a mile turn right at the Titan gas station; signs for The Palms at Pelican Cove lead to beach access and parking. Two hotels and a condominium complex front the sand. A resort here has a restaurant and bar, but its beach chairs are for guests only. The palms give shade. A reef just offshore suits snorkeling, though parts of the beach are rocky and the current can be strong. Hibiscus Beach, named for a resort that has since closed, is part of the same stretch. The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) tests the water here weekly; check its latest advisory before swimming.
