Shoys Beach is a long, quiet beach on the East End of St. Croix, a few miles east of Christiansted, reached through the gated neighborhood of Estate Shoys. From East End Road, turn in at the entrance to The Buccaneer, take the right-hand gate, and tell the guard you are going to the beach. Follow the main road to its end, park in the gravel area and take the short signed path. There are no facilities, so bring water, food and a chair or mat; sea grape trees shade parts of the sand. The water is calm most of the year over a sandy, grassy bottom, and a small reef at the eastern end has lobster, small eels and reef fish. Dogs are not allowed; respect the private homes nearby. The Department of Planning and Natural Resources tests the water here weekly; check its latest advisory before swimming.
