Sprat Hall Beach

Sprat Hall Beach runs for about a mile along Route 63 on St. Croix's West End, roughly 1.5 miles north of Frederiksted and across the road from Sprat Hall Plantation, between Rainbow Beach to the south and Butler Bay to the north. Park on the roadside and leave no valuables in the car. There are no facilities, so bring sun protection and plenty of water; Frederiksted's restaurants and shops are nearby. The water is generally calm for swimming and snorkeling, but parts of the beach are rocky, so wear shoes or water socks. Cruzan Cowgirls bring their rescue horses here, which earned it the nickname Cowboy Beach. The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) tests the water weekly: bacteria exceeded its limit in the advisories of July 31 and September 4, 2026, and the beach met the standard on October 30, 2026.
