Drunk Bay

Drunk Bay is a rocky beach in Virgin Islands National Park on St. John's south shore, just east of Salt Pond Bay and north of Ram Head. Park at the Salt Pond Bay lot beyond Coral Bay, which the VITRAN bus serves, walk the short trail down to Salt Pond Bay, then follow the park's easy 0.25-mile Drunk Bay Trail. Friends of Virgin Islands National Park, which ran a cleanup here in October 2026, told volunteers the bay is rocky and to wear comfortable shoes and bring water and sun protection. The park's pages describe swimming and snorkeling at Salt Pond Bay but say nothing about the water at Drunk Bay. No facilities are listed at the bay; vault toilets and picnic tables are at Salt Pond. Cell service is limited. There is no fee and no lifeguard is listed, and pets and glass are not allowed on park beaches.

Services

  • No fee
  • Drunk Bay Trail, rated easy, 0.25 mile from Salt Pond Bay
  • Parking and a VITRAN bus stop at the Salt Pond Bay lot
  • Rocky shore; the park gives no swimming or snorkeling information
  • No facilities at the bay; vault toilets and picnic tables at Salt Pond Bay
  • Drones allowed only with the park superintendent's written approval
