St. Thomas Harbor, Charlotte Amalie

Brewers Bay Beach is a wide public beach just west of Charlotte Amalie, with green hills on one side and the University of the Virgin Islands campus on the other, minutes from Cyril E. King Airport. The Department of Tourism calls it one of the calmest beaches on St. Thomas: the entry slopes gently over a mostly sandy bottom, which suits swimming and wading. Green and hawksbill turtles forage in the seagrass beds around the bay, but nothing is rented on site, so bring your own snorkel gear. Public bathrooms and outdoor showers are available. There are no concession stands, although local food trucks often park nearby, and the beach has a low-key, local feel, without vendors or loud music. The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) tests the water here weekly; check its latest advisory before swimming, and avoid water stained by runoff after heavy rain.
