Morningstar Beach lines Morningstar Bay at Frenchman's Reef on the south coast of St. Thomas, in front of Morningstar Buoy Haus Beach Resort. The Department of Tourism calls it the resort's private beach, and its free kayaks, paddleboards and snorkel gear serve guests. Under Virgin Islands law the shore is public up to the high-water mark, and when the resort opened in May 2023 its manager said locals could use the beach and dine there. No source confirms a public route over resort property or parking, so ask at the gate or arrive by water. The Salt Shack bar sets its tables on the sand. The 2017 hurricanes stripped much of the sand, but a 2023 aerial photo showed sand had returned. The Department of Planning and Natural Resources lists Morningstar as a testing site but is not sampling it this season (as of October 2026).
