Big Red Barge is a car ferry that carries vehicles, passengers and commercial cargo between Red Hook on St. Thomas and Cruz Bay on St. John, and the Virgin Islands Port Authority lists it, with the vessel Todd G, among the three car barge services on that route. Its website says the barge takes up to 24 vehicles per trip and runs several departures every day between 6:00 AM and 6:30 PM. Reservations are made online, round-trip bookings are discounted, and staff check drivers in on arrival. The Port Authority's schedule shows sailings from Enighed Pond and Red Hook about every two hours. For a move to St. John, ask whether a large truck or trailer will fit and how far ahead to book. The Port Authority also says tickets are not interchangeable between companies and an online ticket does not guarantee a place on a particular sailing.
