Bureau of Motor Vehicles, St. Croix

The St. Croix district office of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles is in the Industrial Park at Kingshill. The bureau issues driver's licenses, learner's permits and identification cards, and it registers, titles and inspects vehicles. For a new resident, two points on the bureau's vehicles page stand out. A car that has never been registered in the territory needs its original title, proof of insurance, the Highway User's Tax form, the buyer's ID and its shipping documents, and a car with a lien also needs an original letter from the lender. Private vehicles more than ten years old must be inspected every year. Many tasks, such as renewing a registration or license, changing an address or ordering duplicate plates and stickers, can be done through the online portal, and in-person visits on St. Croix can be booked by appointment.
