The Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue is the territory's tax agency. Its website offers online services for income tax and gross receipts tax, an excise tax payment portal, tax forms and a tax structure booklet. The bureau's St. Thomas office, which it calls the Red Hook office, is at Estate Smith Bay, and its contact page also lists a Nisky Center office on St. Thomas. New residents and business owners may need the bureau for filing questions, and other agencies rely on it as well: the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs requires a favorable tax approval from the bureau before it renews a real estate license. The site lists a feedback email address and warns that it must not be used to send tax returns. Tax situations differ, so direct specific questions to the bureau or a qualified tax professional.
