The Morris F. de Castro Clinic in Cruz Bay is the Virgin Islands Department of Health's clinic on St. John. It houses the department's Maternal and Child Health and Community Health clinics, along with its Environmental Health and Behavioral Health offices. The clinic is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, after returning to normal hours in February 2026 following a short closure for staffing problems. When it is closed, the department directs St. John residents to its clinics on St. Thomas. The Community Health program has held adult immunization clinics here, and flu vaccines are free for uninsured and underinsured residents by appointment. The building dates from 1953 and was badly damaged in Hurricanes Irma and Maria. In 2024 the department's design for a three-story replacement on the same footprint, funded by FEMA, was approved. Call ahead to confirm services.
