The Cinnamon Bay Trail is a strenuous 1-mile climb in Virgin Islands National Park from the Cinnamon Bay plantation ruins on North Shore Road up to Centerline Road. It begins east of the ruins, across the road from Cinnamon Bay Beach and Campground; hikers can park in the beach lot. The path rises through shaded forest with tall mango, genip, guava berry, kapok and mammee apple trees. A 0.38-mile side trail leads to America Hill, the ruins of a great house that look out over Maho Bay, Francis Bay and Mary's Point. The trail ends on Centerline Road, so plan to hike back down or arrange a pickup; the park discourages walking on its narrow roads. Carry at least half a gallon of water for every four hours of hiking and expect little or no cell service. There is no fee, and leashed dogs are allowed.
