Mim's Seaside Bistro

Mim's Seaside Bistro is a family-run seafood restaurant on the water at Bolongo Bay, St. Thomas, at Watergate Villas. Mim and Jerry Defreitas founded it more than 30 years ago. It serves dinner only, 5:30 to 10 p.m., and is closed on Wednesdays. The signature dish is coconut curry lobster: lobster medallions in a coconut curry cream sauce, served in the shell. The menu also has baked stuffed lobster, a seafood bouillabaisse, several snapper dishes, grilled mahi-mahi with brie and mango chutney and shrimp creole, along with steaks, chicken and pasta; lobsters are priced by weight. The tourism department describes ocean views from its Bolongo Bay setting. Reservations are highly suggested; call the restaurant, which also takes preorders for its seafood boil by phone or through OpenTable.
