Ricardo Richards Elementary School is a public PreK-6 school at Barren Spot, Kingshill, St. Croix, run by the St. Croix District of the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE). It opened in 1977 as the Strawberry School, a nickname it still uses, and was renamed that year for Ricardo Richards, a longtime St. Croix teacher and principal. The school uses Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and each child gets a school-issued device, which a parent signs up for with photo ID. On VIDE's 2026-27 assignment map it serves Barren Spot, Strawberry Hill, Ruby, Mary's Fancy, Limetree Bay and nearby estates, with grades 7-8 at Juanita Gardine PreK-8 and high school at St. Croix Central. To enroll, complete VIDE's online St. Croix pre-registration form, then register in person at the district office with the child and original documents, weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Student Services assigns the school.
