Ulla F. Muller Elementary School

Ulla F. Muller Elementary School is a public PreK-5 school at 101 Contant, St. Thomas, part of the St. Thomas-St. John District of the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE). Its history begins in 1840, when Moravian missionaries opened a school in the basement of the Nisky Moravian Church to teach the children of enslaved people. The school later moved to a building in Subbase and, in 1962, to a new building in Contant first called New Nisky, and in the 1960s it served for a time as a New York University demonstration school. It is named for Ulla F. Muller, its principal-teacher from 1953. The front office handles attendance, records, enrollment documents and transportation updates. To enroll, complete VIDE's online pre-registration form, then a parent or guardian brings the child and original documents, including proof of address, to the district registration office, weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
