Hanging With The Locals is a St. Croix tour company that Carmen McAlpin-Clarke started in 2017 and still runs, with native Virgin Islanders as guides. Its four-hour Limin St. Croix tour visits a lagoon, which the Department of Tourism names as Altona Lagoon, where fishermen bring in their catch; guests try seasonal fruit, dominoes and conch-shell blowing, eat a light local lunch of fish with fried johnny cake, pates and local juices, and walk through historic downtown Christiansted. Crabs with Carmen, for ages 18 and up, teaches how to catch, prepare and cook land crabs, with dinner and drinks, on Friday and Sunday evenings from March to December; the address comes by text after booking. A three-hour sunrise trip to Point Udall, the island's eastern tip, runs on request, and private group tours can be arranged. Book online or by phone, and ask where Limin St. Croix meets.
