Island Roots Charters runs private trips from Cruz Bay, St. John, on three 32-foot World Cat power catamarans, each licensed for up to 12 passengers. Trips include a U.S. Virgin Islands full day (8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.), a British Virgin Islands (BVI) full day (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or extended day (to 5:30 p.m.), a Jost Van Dyke trip (11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) and a late-afternoon trip from 3:45 p.m. to sunset. Free pickup is at the National Park Visitor Center dock or on Cruz Bay beach; other pickups, including on St. Thomas, can be requested. Snorkel gear in all sizes, ice and water are provided. Guests bring food and drinks, and there is no toilet aboard. Fuel is billed by route after the trip, BVI trips add customs fees and need passports, and gratuity is extra. Cancel 48 hours ahead to get the $100 deposit back.
