Double Header Sportfishing runs charters from Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina in Smith Bay, on the East End of St. Thomas. It has a 40-foot sportfishing boat and two 37-foot diesel center consoles with shade tops, each with a toilet and room for six passengers. Trips last four, six or eight hours; marlin trips last 10. Inshore trips use light tackle for tarpon, kingfish, snapper and sharks; offshore trips target mahi, wahoo, tuna and marlin in season. The company specializes in live-bait fishing. Rods, reels and tackle are included, and all billfish are released. The captain cleans up to 20 pounds of whole fish for guests, 30 on six- and eight-hour trips; the boat keeps the rest. Pickups can be arranged on St. Thomas and St. John. Request a date online, then confirm by phone with a card; pay the captain on the day. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice.
