Northstar Beach, also called Northstar Bay, is on St. Croix's North Shore between Cane Bay and Davis Bay; drive west on North Shore Road (Route 80) past Cane Bay to reach it. Park along the roadside and leave no valuables in the car. There are no facilities, so bring water and sun protection; the nearest restaurant, bar and dive shop are back at Cane Bay. The beach is known for snorkeling and even more for scuba diving. Divers enter from shore or go by boat, and GoToStCroix says that about 200 yards out the bottom drops from roughly 30 feet to some 10,000 feet. It is a popular local dive site, so weekdays are quieter than weekends. The Department of Planning and Natural Resources (DPNR) does not include Northstar in its weekly water testing.
