The Bureau of Motor Vehicles keeps a St. John district office in the Government Complex in Cruz Bay. The bureau's services include driver's licenses, learner's permits, ID cards, disabled person placards, vehicle registration and titles, and written and road tests, and appointments for St. John can be booked online. To register a vehicle that has never been registered in the territory, the bureau asks for the original title, proof of valid insurance, the Highway User's Tax form, the buyer's ID and the shipping documents. Renewing a registration requires the previous year's registration document and proof of valid insurance. Several services can be done online, including address changes, license renewals and registration renewals. Office hours are published once for all districts, so confirm the St. John schedule, and whether inspections are offered there, before visiting.
