The Charlotte Amalie Harbor Walk is a flat, paved route along the St. Thomas waterfront that the Department of Tourism lists among the island's hiking trails. It starts at the Legislature Building of the Virgin Islands and follows the harbor past Frenchtown to the foot of Careen Hill. Tourism gives it as about 2.5 miles out and back, or roughly 50 minutes of walking without stops, and says it suits walkers and runners. The surface is smooth enough for a stroller or a wheelchair the whole way. Along the route you look out over the harbor, its cruise ships and sailboats, and landmarks such as the 99 Steps. There is no shade, so bring water and sun protection. Tourism also asks walkers to stay off the private property next to the path. It gives no details on parking or restrooms.
