Skinny Legs is an open-air bar and grill in Coral Bay, on what it calls the quiet side of St. John, and it is known for its burgers. It opened in May 1991, and Doug Bean and his wife, Jaime Elliott, have owned it since 2012. The kitchen serves lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.: burgers, fish sandwiches, salads and more. There is no deep fryer and no blender, so burgers come with potato chips and drinks are shaken by hand. The owners call it family-friendly and affordable, with a backyard where children play, and it hosts bands, regattas, fundraisers and horseshoe tournaments. The tourism department places it at the Connections East shopping center, in a rustic wooden building in a boatyard. It takes an annual off-season break in late summer (in 2025, from August 14 to Halloween), so check before visiting then.
