Julius E. Sprauve School

Julius E. Sprauve School is a public PreK-8 school at 15-18 Enighed in Cruz Bay, St. John, part of the St. Thomas-St. John District of the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE). It is the only public school VIDE lists on the island, so St. John has no public high school; Guy H. Benjamin School in Coral Bay closed in 2014. Classes meet in modular classrooms among buildings damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017. A new PreK-12 school is planned: in October 2025 the Office of Disaster Recovery signed a preconstruction contract, estimating about ten months of preconstruction, then about 38 months of construction once permits are in place. To enroll, complete VIDE's online pre-registration form, then bring the child and original documents, including a health clearance from the Myrah Keating clinic on St. John, to the district registration office, weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
