Jane E. Tuitt Elementary School

Jane E. Tuitt Elementary School is a small public K-5 school on Levkoi Straede in Savan, St. Thomas, part of the St. Thomas-St. John District of the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE). It was dedicated in 1959 to Jane E. Tuitt, a Christiansted-born educator whose 43 years of public service took her from classroom teacher to Commissioner of Education. The school records any grade below 70 percent as an F, and promotion in grades 1-3 requires at least 70 percent overall and in reading, language arts and math. To enroll, complete VIDE's online pre-registration form, then a parent or guardian brings the child and original documents, such as the birth certificate, immunization card, health clearance and proof of address, to the district registration office, weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children must be 5 by December 31 to start kindergarten.
