Lockhart K-8 School

Lockhart K-8 School is a public K-8 school at 41 Estate Thomas, St. Thomas, run by the St. Thomas-St. John District of the Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDE). It took its present form for the 2023-24 school year, when Lockhart Primary School (K-3) merged with Addelita Cancryn Intermediate and Junior High School (grades 4-8). The original school was built in 1962 on land the Lockhart family sold to the government; Hurricane Marilyn destroyed it in 1995, and the current building opened in 2000. For 2026-27, orientation by grade was mandatory, with a parent or guardian present, and students had to complete it before classes began on August 10. New students first register with the district: complete VIDE's online pre-registration form, then bring the child and original documents, including proof of address, to the registration office, weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Student Services assigns the school.
