Utilities

Moving and settling in, public services listed for reference

Utilities to set up when you move in: the Virgin Islands Water and Power Authority (WAPA) supplies electricity on all three islands and piped water where its lines reach, and many homes rely on rainwater cisterns instead. Internet, television and phone service come from private companies. Ask a landlord or seller which services the property uses, whether accounts can be transferred, and what deposits apply. During hurricane season, outages can last for days, so ask about backup power too. We list utility offices for reference, with the date we last verified each one.
